The RA Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, gave an interview to TRT World.
"With the declaration of Alma Ata, the 12 republics of the USSR (including Armenia and Azerbaijan) recognized that the USSR ceased to exist and that the administrative borders of the former USSR republics turned into interstate borders.
Unfortunately, when we refer to this declaration and recognition in the peace treaty, we see hesitation among our Azerbaijani partners. This raises questions and concerns that the Azerbaijani side has far-reaching plans for the sovereign territory of Armenia," said Mirzoyan.
According to him, Azerbaijan agrees that communications restoration should occur based on four principles (jurisdiction, legislation, equality, and reciprocity). Still, they insist that the 3rd party should ensure the safety of the road and that their citizens and cargo should cross the border of Armenia without checks.
"Armenia is ready to guarantee the safety of passing goods and people; we are ready for simplified procedures, but no one can enter and leave our country without even registering," stated the Foreign Minister.
