Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan answered, "Is the withdrawal of Russian border guards from Zvartnots being discussed?" "I was not a participant in such a discussion, but I think it would be right for them to get out of there. Maybe it is being discussed with law enforcement or relevant bodies."
And why, the Speaker of the National Assembly noted. "We will protect the borders of our country, but I am not sure that they will protect the borders of our country. It has been proven several times that they did not protect, not to mention pretend to; they did everything to make those borders vulnerable. They came to NK; what did they do? They came and escorted the Armenian people out of Nagorno-Karabakh, and then, 2 to 3 hours after the end of the events, five people were killed. They came and escorted the Armenians out; was that to protect them? If they come one more day, will they send you and me out of "Zvartnots"?"
Referring to the presence of Russian border guards in Nerkin Hand, Simonyan said that he does not know on what legal basis they are there: "It must be said that it is also a subject of discussion."
Simonyan asked: Is the issue of withdrawing the Russian border guards from the Inner Khanty being discussed? "Completing the border of Armenia and bringing it into line with the Alma Ata Declaration, by which Armenia became independent, and which we celebrate on September 21, is being discussed."
