"Azerbaijan has no intention to comply with international law." Mher Margaryan

On February 13-14, at the initiative of Guyana, the chairman of the UN Security Council, an open discussion was held under the title "The impact of climate change and food insecurity on the maintenance of international peace and security." During the meeting, speeches were made by the UN Secretary-General, high-ranking officials, and representatives of several member states.

In his speech, RA permanent representative Mher Margaryan stressed the inadmissibility of exploiting food resources and using starvation as a tool of war, stressing that such actions violate international humanitarian law, which is also a gross violation of hindering humanitarian assistance to the population in conflict and crises.

The Ambassador of Armenia mentioned Azerbaijan's keeping the population of Nagorno-Karabakh under an illegal blockade for months under the guise of a false environmental agenda, as well as the subsequent large-scale attack and, as a result, the massive forced displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population.

Referring to the continuous violations of international law by Azerbaijan, Ambassador Margaryan noted that the use of military force by Azerbaijan on the territory of Armenia on February 13, which led to the loss of human lives, is reprehensible.

It was emphasized that such provocations once again prove that Azerbaijan has no intention to preserve international law, stressing that the UN and the Security Council bear a special responsibility in safeguarding international security and the rule of law.
