Mirzoyan and Borell referred to the border provocation

Ahead of the RA-EU Business Council session in Brussels on February 13, the RA Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the EU Council for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borell, had a private conversation.

Thoughts were exchanged on agenda issues of the RA-EU partnership. Reference was made to the implementation process of the RA-EU comprehensive and expanded partnership agreement, democratic developments in RA, and the recently implemented steps and existing perspectives to develop the partnership in new directions.

Security issues in the South Caucasus were also discussed.

On the same day, reference was made to the incident of another provocation and use of force by Azerbaijan's armed forces in the Nerkin Hant settlement of Syunik Marz, RA. The RA Foreign Minister emphasized that this incident once again shows that Azerbaijan is looking for pretexts for border escalations and is continuously trying to abort the efforts of actors interested in the stability and security of the South Caucasus to resume negotiations.

The restraint of further steps to destabilize the situation in the South Caucasus was highlighted.
