The Constitutional Commission was established long before this conversation took place. Stated NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, referring to whether the constitution was changed at the request of Azerbaijan.
"Armenia, since its foundation, has had provisions in its documents that should be changed considering the geopolitical realities and recent events. We need to understand where Armenia is going and why Armenia exists. Is that existence for us to restore the historical Great Armenia and Little Armenia, or is it about the Armenia of September 21, when we got independence? Is it about the RA citizen who should have a safe and prosperous life? We must answer these questions. I think the answers to these questions are not clear to the public, and as a result, they are not reflected in our legislation. Armenia cannot be an amorphous thing; a citizen cannot understand and not know where his homeland begins and ends," he said.
Simonyan also referred to the point of view that the constitution is being changed at the request of Azerbaijan. He emphasized that Armenia also raised the issue of constitutional changes before Azerbaijan. "There are also provisions in the constitution of Azerbaijan that should be changed in a mirror manner, and I repeat, every negotiation that the Armenian side carries out is done in a mirror manner."
