Mirzoyan met with the General Secretary of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

On January 30, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan met with the General Secretary of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong.

Emphasizing the role of parliamentary diplomacy, the interlocutors discussed the opportunities provided through active interaction and joint initiatives, for which the holding of the 10th Global Conference of Young Deputies of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Yerevan can create a good environment.

It was emphasized that in the conditions of increasing instability in different corners of the world, parliamentary frameworks could raise international law violations, expand public discussion on fair solutions, and contribute to peace efforts.

In this context, ideas were exchanged on security and stability issues in the South Caucasus. Minister Mirzoyan presented to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union the RA vision of ensuring regional stability, including the fundamental principles in regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The importance of territorial integrity, indivisibility of borders, and unequivocal respect for sovereignty were emphasized. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the clear intention and commitment of RA in this matter, adding that, on the other hand, the fanatical rhetoric and destructive steps do not contribute to the implementation of the peace agenda in the region.
