"There is a possibility of escalation at the border." Mirzoyan

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that it is not a matter of principle for Armenia whether negotiations with Azerbaijan will occur in the presence of mediators or through direct contacts. "The content of the negotiations and the principles on which the negotiations should take place are fundamental," he said.

According to Mirzoyan, the meetings in the text of the peace agreement can be called both mediated and direct. "Different partners organized the meetings, but at the same time, it can be said that these were direct negotiations because both sides negotiated with each other during the meeting."

According to him, the rumors about this are artificial.

Speaking about the meetings of the countries' leaders, he emphasized that there are attempts to organize them, but there has yet to be an agreement. "At the moment, there is no arrangement for the meeting of the two countries' leaders, as well as for the meeting of the foreign ministers."

According to Mirzoyan, there is a possibility of escalation at the border. "The rhetoric we witnessed in the interview with the President of Azerbaijan does not allow us to relax our vigilance even for a second. Moreover, in the same interview, we heard undisguised demands for the sovereign territory of Armenia."
