The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Republic of Armenia issued a message presenting details of the meeting between the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturian, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iran, Amirabdollahian.
"During the meeting with the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized the importance of preserving historical communication channels and the inadmissibility of geopolitical changes in the ongoing developments in the Caucasus.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Amir Abdollahian, had a meeting and discussion with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturian, within the framework of the Davos Summit.
Referring to his recent visit to Armenia, as well as the meetings and discussions he had with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and the Secretary of the National Security Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran emphasized that Armenia occupies an essential and unique place in Iran's policy with neighboring countries.
Mentioning the close relations between the two peoples, Amir Abdollahian said: "We assess that the relations between the two countries are progressing, and the strengthening of these relations ensures the interests of both peoples."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered it essential to maintain stability and security in the Caucasus region and emphasized: "We have always supported the peace negotiations between Baku and Yerevan, and we believe that stability in the region should be achieved through regional solutions."
He especially emphasized the importance of preserving historical communication channels and the inadmissibility of geopolitical changes in the ongoing developments in the Caucasus.
Amir Abdollahian, referring to the title of good neighbor given to Armenia by the supreme leader of the revolution, noted: "We do not have any restrictions on the development of relations with Armenia."
The President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, expressed his satisfaction with the friendly and constructive relations between the two countries and emphasized the historical ties of the two peoples and their influence and positive role in the expansion of friendly relations and bilateral cooperation. He noted, "This friendship should be passed on to future generations of both countries."
The President of the Republic of Armenia called for strengthening cooperation between the private sectors and companies of the two countries. He also considered it essential to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in transportation and transit.
