The Middle East region has its place in the Republic of Armenia's foreign policy agenda. In this context, the year 2023 was marked by several important events.
Minister Mirzoyan visited Egypt, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
For the first time since the independence of the Republic of Armenia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.
Minister Mirzoyan's visit to Syria, specifically Damascus and Aleppo, occurred after the devastating earthquake on February 6. During the visit, the minister conveyed the humanitarian support provided by the RA government.
Among other international agreements, the protocol on the mutual abolition of the entry visa requirement for the citizens of the Republic of Armenia and the United Arab Emirates was signed, which will soon come into force on February 1.
Minister Mirzoyan's meetings with the foreign ministers of Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the general secretaries of the League of Arab States, and the Gulf Cooperation Council were also held on multilateral platforms.
Diplomatic relations have been established between Armenia and Saudi Arabia.
During the year, political consultations were held at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Oman and Tunisia, co-chaired by Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
