Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the RA Security Council, announced on the air of the Public TV Company that the purpose of Louis Bono's visit, the American co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, is to continue the negotiations in the trilateral format in Washington and to try to move forward in terms of the finalization and signing of the peace treaty.
According to him, on January 4, the Armenian side responded to the proposals of the Azerbaijani side. There is a positive dynamic, but there are issues that we agreed upon during the verbal negotiations. Still, we have seen some setbacks in the text of the peace agreement," said Grigoryan, adding that there is an agreement for the delimitation commissions to meet at the end of January.
The Secretary of the RA Security Council also noted that he is confident that the peace agreement will fully correspond to the interests of Armenia, that it cannot be a document that contradicts the interests of the RA, and that they should sign it.
"What is on the negotiation table and what Armenia offers, security guarantees are created for Armenia. The Azerbaijani side verbally assures that it accepts the four principles of RA: sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity, and equality. The recording of these four principles means the exclusion of any corridor logic," said Grigoryan.
Regarding other issues, Grigoryan emphasized that discussions with the Russian Federation regarding the supply of weapons are ongoing.
"Since 2021, several arms contracts have been signed that have not been fulfilled; now some of them are being reviewed and updated," he said.
He also noted that Armenia now has no expectations from the CSTO because the CSTO has never recognized Armenia's borders and has not recognized its area of responsibility in this region, and this is a severe problem.
