Uruguay will soon open an embassy in Armenia

The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, met with the Vice President of Uruguay, President of the Senate Beatrice Archimon, within the framework of his official visit to the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.

Welcoming President Vahagn Khachaturian, the President of the Senate thanked President Vahagn Khachaturyan for his visit. It emphasized that he was happy to receive the President of Armenia in the Senate of Uruguay, which they also call the "House of Democracy," because for Uruguay, democracy is an incomparable value. After the establishment of the Republic in the country, all parliamentary parties were in power.

The President of the Republic thanked the warm reception and emphasized that democracy is the highest value for both Uruguay and Armenia. In his speech, Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that after independence, Armenia adopted the principles of development through the democratic path. Although the democratization processes in our country over the past three decades have overcome various trials, in recent years, Armenia has been steadily guided by democratic values and the position of establishing democratic institutions.

In this context, President Khachaturyan emphasized that the role of the parliament in establishing and strengthening democratic institutions, as well as in the state administration system of Armenia in general, is enormous, as our country has transitioned to a parliamentary administration system since 2018.

During the conversation, the President of the Republic, represented by the President of the Senate, thanked the people and the state of Uruguay for being the first to recognize the Genocide, as well as for taking a transparent and fair position on the challenges faced by the Republic of Armenia in recent years.

The possibilities of promoting Armenian-Uruguayan sectoral cooperation were also discussed during the meeting, particularly in high technologies, education, and other fields.

In his speech, President Vahagn Khachaturyan also referred to the realities and developments in the South Caucasus region. The President reaffirmed the precise position of establishing neighborly and unconditional relations with the neighbors.

At the meeting, the upcoming opening of the Armenian Embassy in Uruguay was positively evaluated by both sides, which will contribute to the activation of the interaction between the two countries at various levels. In this context, the necessity of implementing high-level political mutual visits and efforts to promote parliamentary diplomacy was also emphasized.
