Armenia will continue its commitment to the prevention of genocides

On December 11-12, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan participated in a high-level event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Geneva. UN member states have presented their pledges and commitments in several human rights and related areas.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that Armenia will continue its commitment to the prevention of genocides and will make efforts to strengthen the international mechanisms and responses aimed at the prevention of gross violations of human rights.

The head of the Armenian delegation also noted that steps will be taken to implement human rights obligations and introduce a national accountability mechanism.

Armenia has reaffirmed its commitment to support addressing the needs and protection of fundamental rights of those forcibly displaced as a result of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno Karabakh.

Efforts aimed at overcoming extreme poverty, as well as the adoption of the law on equality, were singled out as future-oriented commitments.
