Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the final decision to start the dialogue on visa liberalization

On December 11, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan participated in the meeting in the format of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers at the invitation of the EU. The discussion was attended by the Vice-Presidentthe  of the European Commission, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borel, the EU Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner, Oliver Varhey, and the heads of foreign affairs departments of all EU member states.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Mirzoyan commented on the press.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen,

I am glad to be here today to participate in the Council of Foreign Ministers.

It is an honor and a good opportunity for me to present today's Armenia, the challenges we face, and our opportunities and aspirations. This is a very good opportunity to present our views on deepening our relations with the EU, the works carried out between Armenia and the EU, as well as what needs to be done.

Of course, this is also a good opportunity to express our gratitude for the European Union's support for our democratic reforms, as well as to address the urgent needs of displaced refugees from Nagorno Karabakh, for the support that the European Union has shown to the peace process in the South Caucasus and the normalization of our relations with Azerbaijan, as well as , as I said, to discuss further plans.

At the meeting, the RA Foreign Minister presented in detail the current programs of the RA-EU partnership, the steps aimed at further expansion and deepening, and the RA vision of establishing lasting stability and peace in the region.

In particular, Minister Mirzoyan presented the progress and achievements of democratic reforms in RA, highlighting their continuous EU support and close cooperation with EU member states in targeted directions.

Reference was made to a number of key issues of the RA-EU political and security dialogue, including the EU monitoring mission in RA. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia expressed to the ministers of foreign affairs of the EU member states the gratitude of the Armenian side for supporting the mission's activities and direct participation in the mission.

Among the perspectives of deepening the RA-EU partnership, in the context of people-to-people contacts, bringing RA closer to the EU, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of the final decision on the start of the dialogue on the liberalization of visas and answered questions of interest to the member states.

Ararat Mirzoyan also referred to the ambitious agenda of the RA-EU in economic and other fields, the landmark programs of the RA-EU financial and investment plan, the issues of EU member states' involvement in them, as well as ensuring the inclusiveness of regional initiatives. Among other things, the potential and importance of RA joining the Black Sea electricity cable was emphasized, considering the joint statement of the RA Prime Minister and the European Commission in October.

Continuing the topics of regional importance, the head of the RA foreign political department presented RA's efforts to establish peace in the region, normalizing relations with Azerbaijan, and the main approaches to the draft peace treaty, in line with the well-known principles.

As part of the peace agenda in the region, Ararat Mirzoyan referred to the "Crossroads of Peace" program developed by the RA government, its individual components, emphasizing its importance not only in the South Caucasus, but also in the wider region, in the context of expanding the stable network of infrastructures connecting the East to the West.

During the meeting, there was also an exchange of ideas on a wide range of issues of interest to the foreign ministers of the EU member states.
