"Armenia strives to develop traditional friendly ties with Iran further. "Active steps are being taken to increase the economic component in our relations, including within the framework of multilateral cooperation." Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan said this today during the expert conference entitled "New Regional Realities and the Crossroads of Peace."
"Iran is the 4th economic partner of Armenia. The main southern transit zone of Armenia, as well as strategic access to Asia and the Middle East, because these routes pass through Iran," said Safaryan.
Speaking about India, the deputy minister said that developing relations with India is one of Armenia's priorities in foreign policy. He emphasized that a trilateral cooperation format between Armenia, Iran, and India was launched recently, aimed at deepening the cooperation between the three countries.
"We appreciate Iran's clear and principled position regarding Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We highly appreciate India's positions on Armenia's issues on international platforms, particularly during the emergency sessions of the UN Security Council," Safaryan said.
