During her visit to Yerevan, the Polish President's wife visited the "Mission to Armenia" organization, where she met with the refugees of Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Mission Armenia," a charitable non-governmental organization, was founded in 1988 by a group of volunteers who united to help victims and refugees of the catastrophic earthquake and the Artsakh war.
During the conversation with the refugees, the first lady was interested in how the forced displacement from Nagorno-Karabakh was carried out, the most urgent demands, what kind of situation they are in today, and their expectations regarding the future.
The deputy director of the organization, Alla Harutyunyan, and representatives of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) were present at the meeting.
In connection with the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, in cooperation with the Prime Minister's Office, the State Agency for Strategic Reserves of the Republic of Poland, and the Ministry of National Defense, among others, implemented humanitarian transportation for refugees.
In response to UNHCR's appeal, 300,000 US dollars of financial assistance were provided. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Yerevan, in cooperation with "Haykakan Caritas," offered special assistance to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh living in the Tegh community.
