On November 1-3, at the invitation of the US European Command, the 1st Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, visited the headquarters of the US European Command in Stuttgart.
On November 3, a meeting was held with Lieutenant General Stephen Basham, Deputy Commander of the US European Command. Issues related to the development of Armenian-American military cooperation were discussed during the meeting.
Lieutenant General Edward Asryan presented details of the reforms in the RA Armed Forces and the support expected from the US during them.
Lieutenant General Steven Basham expressed the readiness of the United States to continue supporting current cooperation programs as well as to initiate new directions of cooperation in the following areas: professionalization of the armed forces, strengthening of professional sergeant ranks, modernization of the command system, peacekeeping, military medicine, military education, and combat training—exercises, etc.
Issues related to regional security were also discussed. Within the scope of the visit, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan also visited the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) and Sergeant Academy (NCO Academy) in Hohenfels.
