Within the framework of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the RA National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan met with the Indian delegation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Hakob Arshakyan noted that the priority of Armenia's foreign policy is strengthening and deepening multilateral relations with India, one of the world's largest and most dynamically developing democracies.
The deputy speaker highlighted interparliamentary cooperation, which has always been at a high level and is vital in developing cooperation between our states.
"The Armenia-India friendship group operating in the National Assembly, which I have the honor to lead, is traditionally one of the largest groups. I fully hope to create a friendship group with Armenia in the Indian Parliament, which will provide an excellent opportunity for active cooperation," said Hakob Arshakyan.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized that Armenia is interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with friendly India in various fields, including defense, culture, science and education, high technologies, tourism, and other fields.
Hakob Arshakyan presented the idea of the "Crossroads of Peace" by Armenia, emphasizing the importance of the road map for peace in the region.
The deputies of the Indian delegation emphasized that Armenia is a crucial partner for India, noting that the relations between the parties today reflect the age-old friendship of the Indian and Armenian peoples.
Indian MPs noted Armenian churches and educational centers in Madras and Calcutta. The first Armenian printing was carried out in India, and even the first Indian sound disc recording was performed by a classical singer of Armenian origin.
The parties also highlighted the visit of the Indian Foreign Minister to independent Armenia for the first time in history.
The deputies of the Indian delegation expressed their gratitude for the opportunity of education in Armenia for more than 4,000 Indian students.
The MPs expressed their willingness to make efforts for the development of relations.
