On October 18, the governor of Syunik, Robert Ghukasyan, received the representative of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in Armenia, Kavita Belani, the director of the European regional office of the UNHCR (Geneva), Philippe Leclerc, the European office, and other officials of the Armenian representation.
The governor expressed his gratitude for the support the organization is showing in accepting forcibly displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh.
Mr. Leclerc noted that he was pleased to hear that the agency could be helpful in those difficult circumstances. "But, of course, you did it, and that organized and joint work was due to your responsibility and the hospitality of the Armenian people. Thanks to you personally because my colleagues have described your efforts and told me about constructive cooperation."
During the meeting, Robert Ghukasyan discussed effective solutions to the displaced persons' problems and cooperation in that regard.
The governor also emphasized that regardless of the current new challenges, the programs previously started and outlined by the agency should continue in Syunik.
