The decision to establish a Canadian embassy in Yerevan was highlighted.

On October 18, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan received the newly appointed Ambassador of Canada to RA, Andrew Turner, on the occasion of handing over a copy of his credentials.

Congratulations to the newly appointed ambassador; Minister Mirzoyan expressed his confidence that as the first resident ambassador of Canada in Armenia, he will charge the Armenian-Canadian friendly relations, which are already being built on sound foundations, to their further strengthening and deepening. In this context, the decision to establish a Canadian embassy in Yerevan was emphasized on both sides, which proves the bilateral willingness to expand the dynamically developing Armenian-Canadian agenda in different directions.

Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that the ambassador assumed his mission during a problematic period for Armenia. The importance of strong support for democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Armenia was emphasized. Thoughts were exchanged on establishing regional stability and the main issues at hand.

Referring to the security situation in the region, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the need to describe what happened in Nagorno-Karabakh by its name to adequately provide for the primary needs of more than 100,000 Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the ethnic cleansing policy implemented by Azerbaijan, as well as to address their rights. At the meeting, the interlocutors also highlighted mutual high-level visits.
