The delegation headed by the Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Radvile Morkunaite Mikulenien, is in Armenia.
The delegation headed by the Lithuanian Seimas Vice-President includes the Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman of the Seimas, Žigimantas Pavlionis, and the Vice-President of the European Affairs Committee, Marius Matijošaitis.
The meeting was attended by Arsen Torosyan, head of the RA NA Armenia-Lithuania Friendship Group; Arman Yeghoyan, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on European Integration; Maria Karapetyan, member of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations; Andrius Pulokas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the RA.
The Deputy Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Radvile Morkunaite Mikulenien, thanked for the warm welcome and appreciated the dynamically developing relations between the two countries.
"The purpose of our visit is to deepen cooperation and help Armenia on its chosen path. We know what it means to be brutalized by neighbors. It is necessary to prevent the repetition of history in every possible way," said Radvile Morkunaite Mikulenien.
The friendly group members, drawing parallels with the situation in the Republic of Lithuania in the 1990s, emphasized the importance of ensuring security and peace in the region. Presenting details of the current situation, the issue of applying sanctions against Azerbaijan was noted. The MPs referred to the peace agenda, clear plans, and steps to develop Armenia economically.
"Together with my National Assembly colleagues, we have thoroughly presented to the Lithuanian delegation the security situation and challenges around us, the consequences of Azerbaijan's recent aggression against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, which also require addressing by the international community," one of the MPs, Arsen Torosyan, wrote on his Facebook page.
