On October 4-5, during the 74th session of the UN Committee on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, the discussion of the 4th periodic report of the Republic of Armenia, presented within the framework of the pact of the same name, took place.
The RA delegation included representatives of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economy, Labor, and Social Affairs, Justice, KGSMS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office. Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan led the delegation.
The attention of the committee members was drawn to the humanitarian crisis caused by the ethnic cleansing of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan.
In the last two weeks, Armenia has received more than 100,000 refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. The committee members expressed their solidarity with Armenia's efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis, emphasizing international comprehensive support in this direction.
The members of the delegation thoroughly answered many questions the Committee's experts raised. The Committee provided information on legislative initiatives and steps in social, economic, cultural, educational, and other fields.
As a result of the discussion, the Committee will present its final observations on Armenia.
