On September 28, RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan met OSCE PA President Pia Kaumay in Dublin.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia expressed his belief that the new Chairman of the OSCE PA will encourage dialogue and cooperation between all member states. Alen Simonyan welcomed the decision to hold the autumn session of the OSCE PA in Yerevan, stressing that the Government of Armenia and the National Assembly are preparing responsibly for all partners in November host in Armenia. Reflecting on the details of the Azerbaijani attack against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and its consequences, Alen Simonyan presented the problems of forcibly displaced people and the complexity of the situation.
The parties discussed the aggression carried out regularly by Azerbaijan against Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, considering it unacceptable official Baku's undisguised intentions. The RA NA Speaker noted that Armenia expects the OSCE PA to be a structure that supports democratic values and resolves conflicts peacefully, will express his position on the actions being taken against our country. The parties also discussed the situation in the region, highlighting the drivers of war and their direct impact on Armenia.
The Chairman of the OSCE PA noted that they follow the developments daily, being interested in threats to Armenia's territorial integrity against Azerbaijan. He said that an emergency meeting of the OSCE PA is planned shortly, in which the heads of the Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan delegations are expected to participate. Prospects for establishing peace in the region will be discussed.
