You are in Armenia under challenging times for us. Armenia is facing severe challenges. This was said by the chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on European Integration, Arman Yeghoyan, welcoming the newly appointed head of the EU delegation in RA, Vassilis Maragos.
The meeting took place on September 26, in which the deputy head of the EU delegation, Jan Pleshinger, the deputy head of the EU mission, Marek Kubersky, the deputy head of the Standing Committee on European Integration, Mary Galstyan, the members of the committee Sona Ghazaryan, Arsen Torosyan, and Tatevik Gasparyan also participated.
Vassilis Maragos, thanking the messengers for their warm reception, presented the steps taken by the European Union to meet the needs of Armenian residents displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. The head of the delegation noted that there is already a decision to provide 5 million euros for this purpose.
Arman Yeghoyan considered the support coming from the European Union to Armenia in this challenging period as necessary, at the same time emphasizing the importance of further investments in the expansion of programs, which the regular meetings of the representatives of the EU delegation and the National Assembly can facilitate.
The MPs highly appreciated the activities of the EU mission. According to them, the opening of new centers in different cities of Armenia will allow more detailed information to be sent to Brussels regarding the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
One of the critical topics of the conversation was the issue of speeding up the implementation of the Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement; a proposal was made to change the road map by the existing challenges.
Vassilis Maragos presented the priorities of the programs to be implemented in the near future, his vision regarding the existing problems. A number of agreements have been reached to continue the joint work more constructively.
