"The USA mourns the death of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh." Biden's letter to Pashinyan

The head of the US International Development Agency, Samantha Power, delivered the letter of US President Joe Biden to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The letter says:

"Dear Mr. Prime Minister, I send you and the people of Armenia my best wishes on Independence Day. This year, as we celebrate this great occasion, we also mourn the death of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh. I have asked Samantha Power, one of the most important members of my Cabinet, to personally convey to you the strong support of the United States and my administration for Armenia's pursuit of a dignified and sustainable regional peace that guarantees your sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and democracy.

Armenia has demonstrated its commitment to that goal by engaging in peace talks with Azerbaijan, implementing critical economic reforms, improving government accountability, and strengthening democratic institutions. I assure you that the United States will continue to support Armenia in its efforts to strengthen democracy and establish stability in your neighborhood.

The United States is committed to working with your government to address the humanitarian needs arising from the recent violence, which Ms. Power will discuss with you in detail. We will also continue strengthening our cooperation on energy diversification, resilience, and security, as demonstrated by our recent military exercises.

Armenia's rich history has inspired nations and people everywhere to strive for freedom and justice. And the American Armenian community continues to be a source of strength in my country. I hope to continue deepening and strengthening the ties between our states and peoples in the coming year."
