"This is the sovereign decision of Armenia." Khandanyan on military exercises with the USA

Sargis Khandanyan, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, does not consider Armenian-Russian relations tense.

"I would not assess the Armenian-Russian relations as tense; I am recording the facts, and they were recorded not only today but also yesterday and in previous months," he said.

Referring to the statement that the Russian side is concerned about holding Armenian-American military exercises, Khandanyan said, "It is the sovereign decision of Armenia. I understand that different parties may have concerns and express grievances, but this is Armenia's sovereign decision. These exercises aimed at improving Armenian-American cooperation in peacekeeping services should occur next week. This is a result of the deepening Armenian-American relations."

When asked whether there was a discussion with the Russian side before the decision to hold military exercises, he said, "I have no information. Maybe they were."
