The RA MFA stated the shooting at the Armenian positions in the Gegharkunik region's Sotk and Norabak regions.

"On September 1, the armed forces of Azerbaijan opened fire in the direction of the Armenian positions located in the Sotki and Norabak regions of the Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia, as a result of which the Armenian side suffered 4 casualties and 1 wounded. Azerbaijani Armed Forces also used mortars and drones.

During this period, the Republic of Armenia repeatedly warned that Azerbaijan, carrying out pre-planned military operations, is intentionally and systematically spreading misinformation.

The encroachments against the territorial integrity of Armenia, which are combined with the declarations and bellicose rhetoric made regularly by the Azerbaijani side on various levels and across multiple state media about the ambitions for the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia, are part of Baku's aggressive policy of settling the existing issues through the use of force and the threat of force, imposing its own will—the sequel.

In the face of calls and growing pressure to lift the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor, this provocation by Azerbaijan is also aimed at distracting the attention of the international community and avoiding fulfilling its obligations.

We strongly condemn the aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan, which is accompanied by the de facto siege of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh through the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor that has lasted for more than 8 months and can seriously hinder efforts to establish stability and lasting peace in the region. The Republic of Armenia reaffirms its principled position that all units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan must be withdrawn from the sovereign territory of Armenia.

We call on the international community and the actors interested in absolute stability in the region to use the existing mechanisms and through practical and transparent steps to curb the increasingly fanatical behavior of Azerbaijan to prevent further escalation of the situation and to return Azerbaijan to a constructive field," the statement said.
