Mirzoyan met with the CE human rights commissioner, and the urgency of overcoming the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh was emphasized

On August 29, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Dunja Mijatović. The meeting was held during Minister Mirzoyan's visit to Slovenia for participation in the Bled conference.

The humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor for more than 8 months and the complete blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh since June 15, the harsh conditions and human rights violations of the Nagorno-Karabakh population, as well as the urgency of overcoming the situation, were emphasized on both sides. The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that with its actions, Azerbaijan openly demonstrates its fundamental goal, implementing ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The RA Foreign Minister welcomed the statements made by the CE Human Rights Commissioner regarding the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh yesterday, as well as since the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, at the same time emphasizing the unhindered implementation of the Commissioner's mandate and possible steps within the framework of the CE toolkit.

Reference was also made to RA's effective interaction with the CE Commissioner's office in matters of human rights protection.
