On August 23, the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Zbigniew Rau.
Minister Mirzoyan presented to his Polish counterpart the worsening crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor for more than 8 months. The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in almost all areas of Nagorno-Karabakh, sufficient conditions for life are disrupted, and even the fundamental rights of 120,000 people are violated.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that around 90% of the food consumed before the blockade was imported from Armenia. Today, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh do not receive these supplies but are deprived of even possible humanitarian support from the ICRC.
The RA Foreign Minister emphasized the imperative to prevent Azerbaijan's intention to subject NK to ethnic cleansing, stressing that the messages are no longer enough and precise actions of the international community are needed.
Reaffirming the Armenian side's commitment to establishing stability in the South Caucasus, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized that by provoking a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan is hindering the efforts of Armenia and the international community, including the EU, in this direction.
