Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the urgency of implementing the messages issued by the EU

On August 21, the RA Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal, Joao Gomes Cravinho.

In continuation of this year, During the discussions of the two ministers during the official visit to Lisbon in July, Minister Mirzoyan presented to his colleague the details of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, which is worsening by the hour due to the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan. Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the harsh conditions created for especially vulnerable groups: children, women, and older people, as well as the acute shortage of food and medicine.

Referring to the discussion of the UN Security Council on August 16, the urgency of implementing the messages issued by the EU regarding the reopening of the Lachin Corridor by the decisions of the International Court of Justice was emphasized. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that otherwise, the situation is close to turning into an absolute humanitarian disaster.

Reference was also made to the bilateral agenda of relations between Armenia and Portugal and issues of RA-EU interaction, particularly the activities of the EU civilian monitoring mission in RA.
