On August 14, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Gordan Grlic Radman.
As a continuation of the previous discussions, including those held within the framework of the Dubrovnik forum in July, Minister Mirzoyan presented to his colleague the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh due to the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, the violations of the fundamental rights of the 120 thousand people of Nagorno-Karabakh, including vulnerable groups, and the violations created for them—extreme conditions.
Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the urgency of taking additional steps on various platforms, by the decisions of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6, to immediately restore free movement in both directions through the Lachin Corridor and to prevent the real intention of Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh - ethnic cleansing. Minister Mirzoyan informed that Armenia applied to the UN Security Council with the request to convene an extraordinary session.
RA Foreign Minister reaffirmed Armenia's constructive approach to establishing stability in the region, however emphasizing that Azerbaijan is undermining the political process and the efforts of Armenia and the international community with the continuous aggravation of the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.
