A delegation headed by Sara Arkin and Damian Murphy, representatives of the committee's staff, visited Armenia on the instructions of Robert Menendez, the chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Yesterday, they had a meeting with the Syunik region Governor Robert Ghukasyan and Goris community leader Arush Arushanyan, during which they were informed about the situation on the borders of Syunik, Azerbaijan's encroachment on the sovereign territory of RA and the blockade of Artsakh and the humanitarian disaster caused by it.
Today, the delegation, accompanied by the Syunik region Governor, visited Kornidzor village of the Tegh community. Robert Ghukasyan presented them with the fact that the Hagari Bridge is closed and lacks two-way traffic.
The US Senate representatives also observed that the vehicles with humanitarian cargo sent by the RA government have been standing on this side of the border for days and cannot reach the residents of Artsakh who need them.
