More than six dozen senators, deputies, and representatives of territorial bodies representing France's left-wing political forces appealed to France's executive power to provide practical support to Nagorno Karabakh.
According to the report of "Armenpress," the title is said. "During this troubled period, when unrest is intensifying in the world, the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh is making efforts, trying not only to survive but also to embody the democratic values that we consider ours in the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia). Meanwhile, we do not initiate any steps in this regard, and we do not support him in resisting the attempts at ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan. With each new shock in the world news, the latest example of which is the Prigogine affair, Azerbaijan's dictator Ilham Aliyev takes advantage of our diverted attention and our guilty indifference, thereby tightening his deadly noose on this Armenian territory.
Thus, finally abandoning the fictitious history of free traffic in the Lachin Corridor connecting Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia from June 15 and tightening the ongoing blockade from December 12, 2022, Ilham Aliyev installed concrete barriers, finally blocking communication.
In today's expanded Europe, this "New Berlin Wall" is leading one hundred and twenty thousand people of Nagorno Karabakh to starvation. Do we, like our Republican partners, have to repeat that Baku's actions contradict the most basic principles of international law? Do we still need to note that Azerbaijan violates its commitments and the terms of the November 2020 ceasefire every day?
The authors of the call also note: "Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh is on the verge of elimination. Nagorno-Karabakh, which in the South Caucasus represents what we claim to embody, deserves more than a cursory glance. It simply deserves to have its citizens' right to self-determination enforced. It justifies France's role and activities in the region, confirms the legality of our country's actions, and the occupation established by force cannot under any circumstances call into question its existence."
They ask Emmanuel Macron to impose sanctions on Ilham Aliyev and his government. "Without harboring hatred towards one's people, so that Armenians and Azerbaijanis can finally coexist in conditions of peace and brotherhood in this South Caucasus, where they live side by side," is stated in the call-statement of the political forces of France.
