The need for a constructive approach on the part of Azerbaijan was emphasized to reach a consensus

On July 25, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow. The interlocutors focused on regional security and stability issues, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, and existing humanitarian issues.

Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the hourly deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor and the imperative to immediately lift the blockade of the Lachin Corridor under the provisions of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, and the decisions of the International Court of Justice. The need for clear steps by the signatories of the trilateral declaration and the possibility of using the existing international tools in this direction were emphasized.

During the meeting, reference was made to regulating Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. In the context of border demarcation and border security between the two countries, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the commitment to use the 1975 map as a basis to ensure maximum clarity in the further border demarcation process. In the context of unblocking all economic and transport channels in the region, the absence of an alternative to the functioning of the respective channels under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of the countries was emphasized once again. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the importance of addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno Karabakh under the international mechanism.

Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the need for Azerbaijan to show a constructive approach to reach a consensus on the above issues. The problems of the bilateral cooperation agenda between RA and Russia were also discussed at the meeting.
