On July 6, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, head of the NA delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Ruben Rubinyan, received Council of Europe Director of Political Affairs Miroslav Papa and Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law Christos Yakoumopoulos.
Vladimir Vardanyan, chairman of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs member of the NA delegation to the PACE, was also present at the meeting. Welcoming the high-ranking officials of the Council of Europe in the parliament, Ruben Rubinyan valued the cooperation in the Council of Europe.
The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly presented the security situation in the region, emphasized the importance of quickly overcoming the humanitarian crisis created in Nagorno-Karabakh as a result of the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, and the role and responsibility of the Council of Europe in this matter.
