On June 27, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Washington. During the meeting, regional security and stability issues were discussed, and reference was made to the process of regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Ensuring the demarcation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, based on the Alma-Ata Declaration and the 1975 map, the withdrawal of troops from the border, as well as the proper addressing of the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, was highlighted as an essential factor in establishing lasting peace in the region.
The interlocutors also exchanged ideas on issues of unblocking transport infrastructure in the region.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented the humanitarian crisis caused by the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor. Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the imperative for Azerbaijan to give up belligerent rhetoric and return all Armenian prisoners of war.
