RA NA Speaker reaffirmed his commitment to deepen cooperation with the EU

On June 20, RA National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan received the delegation headed by  Nathalie Loiseau, the Security and Defense Subcommittee Chairperson of the European Parliament. Alen Simonyan welcomed the guests, noting that this visit would allow them to familiarize themselves with the situation on the spot.

He stressed that our country greatly values the European Parliament's absolute position on the most critical issues for Armenia. In this context, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly mentioned the problems related to the last Nagorno-Karabakh war, the encroachment of the Azerbaijani armed forces on the sovereign territory of Armenia, the need for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war, the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and the resulting humanitarian crisis, which have been fixed in several European Parliament resolutions. "The European Union continues to be the primary partner supporting the reform agenda implemented in Armenia, and I want to reaffirm our commitment to deepen and expand cooperation with the EU, including implementing CEPA provisions," said Alen Simonyan.

At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the decision to deploy the EU mission in Armenia, significantly contributing to establishing relative stability on our eastern borders. There was a reference to expanding cooperation between Armenia and the European Union in defense and security.
