"From Shushi, there were constant reports of disturbing news. News began to arrive that the first group of the enemy had entered the city, then the second, and so on." Today, at the session of the NA investigative committee, Nikol Pashinyan presented the story of Shushi's creeping decline.
"Finally, on the afternoon of November 7, Onik Gasparyan, the head of the Armed Forces General Staff, reported to me about the fall of Shushi. As much as I was informed about the negative dynamics of the situation around Shushi, this was hard news for me because I had said that Shushi should be kept in all my conversations, instructions, orders, and consultations. I had received assurances that he would be kept. My first reaction to the news of Shushi's fall was to demand: do what you promised. Keep Shushi. Hold it; take it back. Finally, I was told about the counter-operations, then about some successes, then they told me that the operation was going well, then that the Armenian troops were inside Shushi. Before signing the tripartite statement, I was informed that a part of Shushi is under the control of the DA," said Nikol Pashinyan.
