"Referring to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in the form of a "corridor" is a manifestation of territorial claims;" RA Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

On June 13, RA Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan participated in the online meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC).

Expressing gratitude to Serbia on the occasion of the successful chairmanship of the CSTO, Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan emphasized Armenia's support for increasing the organization's efficiency in addressing emerging challenges.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs presented the macroeconomic policy and legislative reforms of Armenia, referring to the double-digit economic growth in Armenia and the significant increase in the volume of foreign trade, including with several CSTO member countries. He reaffirmed Armenia's position on unblocking regional communication channels, based on RA sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national jurisdiction.

Vahe Gevorgyan noted that Azerbaijan's aggressive actions against Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity greatly hinder Armenia's economic development and regional economic cooperation. It was emphasized that referring to the sovereign territory of Armenia as a "corridor" is a manifestation of territorial claims against Armenia, which undermines regional peace and security.

Deputy Minister Gevorgyan drew attention to the ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan and its socio-economic consequences, emphasizing that Azerbaijan's aggressive actions and blockade policy, trying to exhaust the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and deprive them of their means of existence, cannot become a basis for long-term and stable peace.

As a result of the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adopted several resolutions and decisions, as well as confirmed the candidacy of Armenia as the coordinating country of the 2023-2025 Culture Working Group.
