The delegation led by RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan met the members of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland board at the Inter-Parliamentary Union. After the exchange of greetings, the Speaker of the RA NA noted that he had repeatedly witnessed the active work of the British group, which is an excellent example for parliamentarians.
Alen Simonyan presented the post-war situation and complex issues related to the complex problem in the region. He noted that in our country, they are following the developments in the Parliament of Great Britain and the activities of all those parliamentarians who demonstrated the level of perception of the situation in our region after the 2020 war. "We believe that the targeted statements and pressure of our international partners can prevent further aggression by Azerbaijan, as well as contribute to eliminating the atmosphere of impunity," added Alen Simonyan.
The members of the RA NA delegation thoroughly informed their British colleagues about the siege of Artsakh Armenians, the Lachin Corridor crisis, and the Azerbaijani military's encroachments against the territorial integrity of Armenia.
The parties stated that Armenia and the United Kingdom had formed an ambitious agenda for bilateral relations based on shared values and principles, such as the rule of law, the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and the strengthening of democratic institutions.
The meeting also discussed the need to have a common agenda within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to support the strengthening of the democratic institutions of our countries.
