The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the German Bundestag, Michael Roth.

Welcoming the guest, the president said, "We value your visit to Armenia very much. After independence, Armenian-German relations experienced a dynamic development, and they covered various fields. All this contributed to the establishment and development of our friendly relations.

The rapprochement and activation of inter-parliamentary relations are also essential for the improvement of the governance system of our country. I am sure that your visit will contribute not only to strengthening our parliamentary ties but also to increasing the efficiency of the administration system of the Republic of Armenia. Thanking for the reception, Michael Roth noted.

"Thank you very much, Mr. President, for your hospitality. Our relations with the parliamentarians and the government representatives are excellent and effective. Still, more is needed in our times, particularly during uncertainty, crises, and wars. Therefore, I would like you to perceive this visit of mine as a modest step, a sign of solidarity towards a country that is moving towards the family of universal European value systems with democratic values."

Many issues related to the continuous development of friendly relations established between Armenia and Germany after independence were discussed during the meeting. The President of the Republic presented details about the regional realities, Armenia's security problems, and the possibilities of overcoming them.

President Khachaturyan emphasized that Armenia has adopted a clear position to establish stable regional peace and neighborly relations with its neighbors. In this regard, Michael Roth assured that Germany fully supported the efforts of Armenia and the Armenian government to solve regional problems and establish final peace.

During the conversation, the democratic reforms implemented in Armenia and the establishment of democratic institutions were emphasized on both sides. President Khachaturyan noted that Armenia has firmly chosen the path of democracy and is steadily moving along that path. At the meeting, ideas were exchanged regarding further expansion of the Armenian-German multi-level cooperation.
