Armenia is interested in establishing and developing multilateral relations with the United Kingdom; Alain Simonian to Sir Lindsay Hoyle

The delegation, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, is on a three-day working visit to the United Kingdom. As part of the visit, on June 7, the Speaker of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, received the delegation.

The Speaker of the RA National Assembly thanked for the invitation and warm hospitality, noting that Armenia is interested in establishing and developing multilateral relations with the United Kingdom and expects the same from the United Kingdom.

It was noted at the meeting that over three decades, Armenia and the United Kingdom had formed an ambitious agenda for bilateral relations based on shared values and principles. The parties discussed issues related to the strengthening of human democratic institutions.

The Speaker of the RA National Assembly expressed his belief that the Armenia-UK Comprehensive Extended Agreement agreement will be completed soon and signed as quickly as possible.

"Armenia, as a young parliamentary republic, attaches more importance to effective inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction between parliamentarians. I note with satisfaction the mutual visits and active cooperation of friendly groups operating in our parliaments during the last two years," said Alen Simonyan.

At the end of the meeting, the RA NA speaker invited his British counterpart to Armenia.

The delegation led by RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan includes RA NA Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, head of the NA "Civil Contract" faction, member of the NA Armenia-Great Britain friendship group Hayk Konjoryan, member of the friendship group Artur Khachatryan and deputy Sona Ghazaryan.
