The President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan, received the delegation led by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič.
The president welcomed the guests and said, "I attach great importance to such visits and meetings. High-level visits only contribute to the development of relations between countries. Both of our countries are parliamentary, so such visits become more critical. In this regard, it is also essential that the Armenia-Slovenia friendship group was established in the Slovenian parliament in 2022. I am sure that as a result of this cooperation, our relations will reach a new level of development.
I am sure your visit will be content and aimed at developing relations between our two countries. I wish you success in that matter."
Urshka Klacochar Zupanch thanked the president for the reception: "It is a great honor to be here and to be hosted by you. Before coming here, I had a very productive meeting with the President of the National Assembly. I am thrilled to be in Armenia. Our countries have several commonalities. Both countries are post-socialist and are in transition stages; we are also small nations.
This morning I got acquainted with the tragic pages of your history, the Genocide, and I visited the memorial of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. I think it is essential that people visit such monuments and pay their respects. We must remember, never forget, so that such tragedies never happen again."
During the meeting, President Vahagn Khachaturyan presented details on regional developments, the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh caused by Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin Corridor, and the content of the Karabakh conflict.
During the conversation, the close cooperation between Slovenia and Armenia on international platforms and the continuous development of parliamentary diplomacy were emphasized. Thoughts were exchanged entirely using the existing opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in trade, economy, culture, education, high technology, and other fields.
