The EU calls Shoigu's statements regarding EU observers in Armenia "absolutely groundless"
The EU office in Armenia called the statement of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoigu, that the civilian mission of the European Union in Armenia includes military personnel and representatives of special services unfounded.
On May 25, at the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CSTO member states, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced, "The West is trying in every possible way to intervene in the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and discredit the Russian peacekeeping policy. An example is the so-called civilian mission of the European Union in Armenia, which includes military personnel and representatives of special services.
Radar Armenia contacted the office of the EU delegation in Armenia for comments, "We have seen those comments, which are groundless. As it has already been mentioned several times, EUMA is a purely civilian, unarmed observation mission," said the response of the EU Delegation to Armenia.
