"I consider this an important step for establishing stability and peace in the region;" Nikol Pashinyan (VIDEO)

At the start of the government session, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan referred to the meeting held in Brussels with the President of Azerbaijan and the President of the EU Council.

"On May 14, we took another step and, as stated in the statement of the President of the EU Council following the May 14 meeting, we noted that Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of 29,800 square kilometers of Armenia, and Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity of 86,600 square kilometers of Azerbaijan," - he said, recalling the quadrilateral meeting held in Prague in 2022, where the parties recognized each other's territorial integrity with the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991.

"I consider this an important step in terms of establishing stability and peace in the region, finalizing the text of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and delimiting the borders, but the next step should be the identification and agreement of the concrete grounds with legal force and significance for demarcation," he said.

Pashinyan drew attention to the fact that Charles Michel's statement emphasized the importance of the dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert with the international community regarding the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.

He noted that the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue is essential for the accurate and comprehensive settlement of relations with Azerbaijan and establishment of long-term peace in the region, "Therefore, it will greatly speed up the peace treaty signing between Armenia and Azerbaijan."
