Political consultations were held in Stockholm between Armenia and Sweden's foreign affairs departments. The Armenian delegation was represented by Ara Margaryan, the head of the European Department of the RA MFA, and the Swedish one by Andreas von Beckerath, the head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department of Sweden.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, valuing the constructive dialogue between the two countries and further developing relations in areas of mutual interest. The activity and role of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) in Armenia in the implementation of Armenia's reform agenda were highlighted on both sides.
In establishing stability in the region, the role of the EU mission in Armenia was emphasized on both sides, and the decision on its location was made in the EU Council during the Swedish presidency.
The parties also referred to the Armenia-EU expanded partnership and exchanged ideas on the EU's Eastern Partnership.
Ara Margaryan presented to the Swedish side the latest developments in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the situation created in the region as a result of Azerbaijan's aggression, as well as the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor.
Within the visit framework, A. Margaryan met with Björn Söder, head of the Sweden-Armenia friendship group of the Swedish Riksdag.
A. Margaryan also participated in the discussion organized at the Stockholm Center for East European Studies (SCEEUS) on regional developments.
