Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh with the Human Rights Commissioner of the CE

On May 17, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan met with Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Dunya Miyatovich. The meeting occurred within the framework of the 4th summit of the Council of Europe held in Reykjavík. Practical cooperation with the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe was highlighted on both sides, and several issues of mutual interest were discussed.

Reference was made to the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor. Both sides emphasized ensuring humanitarian access to Nagorno Karabakh and addressing humanitarian issues.

Minister Mirzoyan stressed that Azerbaijan's provocative and aggressive actions are a flagrant violation not only of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020, but also of the norms of international humanitarian law and the decision of the International Court of Justice. The minister emphasized the importance of continuously targeted statements and practical steps by international structures to prevent ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
