RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan met with Serbian Speaker Vladimir Orlich in Ankara on May 4 within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Transocean Economic Cooperation.
Alen Simonyan expressed condolences to his colleague for the tragic incident that took many young lives in Belgrade The parties noted the warm friendly relations between Armenia and Serbia, emphasizing the continuous and effective development of bilateral cooperation in all fields.
RA NA Speaker emphasized the need for bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation, noting the active dialogue between legislative bodies and the role of friendly groups.
The partners expressed their satisfaction for cooperation within international organizations. "I believe that effective interaction of our delegations on such platforms will allow us all to find solutions to difficult issues," said Alen Simonyan.
The Serbian partner expressed his gratitude for the positive responses received from Armenia so far and for maintaining substantive partnership relations, which were demonstrated both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
The parties discussed details related to the security issues of our region. The Speaker of the RA National Assembly presented the continuous belligerent rhetoric and maximalist stance of the Azerbaijani authorities, as well as the ongoing aggressive actions against the sovereignty of Armenia and the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh. Alen Simonyan presented the chronology of the post-war situation, stressing that the role of the EU civilian observation mission is essential in the context of the precarious position in the region.
Alen Simonyan reaffirmed Armenia's approaches to the status of Kosovo.
The Serbian partner noted that peace is an important value for their country, and energy spent and efforts invested in maintaining peace have become a daily formula. He noted that pacifism is the main premise that characterizes Armenia and Serbia, on the basis of which cooperation should be continued.
At the end of the meeting, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly invited his colleague on an official visit to Armenia.
