On May 3, a tripartite meeting was held between RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, National Security Adviser of the US President Jake Sullivan, and Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov , the US capital, Washington. Issues related to regional security and stability and regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed.
Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the continuous aggressive policy of Azerbaijan towards Nagorno Karabakh and the occupation of the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia do not contribute to efforts to establish stability in the region. Minister Mirzoyan stressed that Azerbaijan's actions against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, hate speech at the highest level, and open threats to use force testify to Azerbaijan's intention and real danger to subject Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing.
It was emphasized that the withdrawal of troops, the distinction between the two countries based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, as well as the addressing of the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the internationally guaranteed dialogue mechanism, are critical to a comprehensive settlement and establishing long-term stability in the region.
