RA NA Speaker Alen Simonyan received Yumi Yoshikawa, Deputy Parliamentary Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, on May 2.
After the exchange of greetings, the parties stated that both sides are interested in deepening the political dialogue, developing trade and economic ties, and expanding cooperation in several other directions.
The Speaker of the RA National Assembly noted that the role of parliamentary diplomacy is essential in the framework of bilateral cooperation, expressing readiness to deepen further inter-parliamentary cooperation, to activate contacts between legislative bodies.
Alen Simonyan stated that our country greatly values and appreciates the continuous support provided by the Japanese government to the healthcare system and other areas.
Speaking about the prerequisites for the deepening of Armenian-Japanese cultural cooperation, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly mentioned the Hanami festival held last month in the park of the National Assembly, which has been organized since 2015 by the efforts of the Armenian-Japanese Scientific and Cultural Union "Armenia-Japan" and the Armenia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group of the RA NA.
At the request of the Japanese guest, the Speaker of the RA National Assembly they conveyed details of the humanitarian disaster caused by the Lachin Corridor crisis, stressing that the use of force and the threat of use of force are an integral part of Azerbaijan's policy and aim to significantly destabilize the situation in the region and undermine the efforts of mediator partners to continue peace negotiations.
He added that despite all the challenges, Armenia adopted democracy and continues to adhere to the agenda of achieving peace.
