The Prime Minister presented the views of the Armenian side on the resolution of the created situation

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan presented the ideas of the Armenian side regarding settling the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.

According to him, the Russian peacekeeping troops must keep the Lachin Corridor under control and ensure its regular operation, "Other than the Russian Federation, no one should exercise control over the Lachin Corridor, and Azerbaijan should not obstruct the free movement of the corridor. This is precisely what is intended by the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.

The rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians should become the subject of negotiations between Stepanakert and Baku within the framework of the international format.

As for the possible peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, it is evident that it should have a coherent and practical system of implementation guarantees and dispute-resolution mechanisms. The parameters of border delimitation should be recorded, and tools to exclude any escalation should be implemented."

According to Pashinyan, concrete and sincere efforts are required to prevent further tension and achieve a comprehensive settlement. He emphasized that parallel to these efforts, a more comprehensive international presence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin Corridor is becoming more necessary daily, "Azerbaijan's efforts to turn Nagorno-Karabakh into a new frontier for Armenians must be stopped. The only reliable way to do this is the presence of representatives with a broad international mandate in Nagorno-Karabakh.

As a first step, it is necessary to send an urgent international fact-finding mission to Lachin Corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh," he said.
